The Director of Admissions is responsible for coordinating the recruitment and admission of qualified applicants to the COM. The Director will work closely with the members of the admissions committee as well as other members of Student Services staff to ensure that the policies and procedures of admissions to the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine are adhered to.

Job Duties

The Director of Admissions works closely with the Dean for Student Affairs and the offices of Bursar, Registrar and Financial Aid, as well as with academic institutions throughout the country, recruiting students to become osteopathic physicians. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
· Works with AACOMAS in gathering data on all students applying for admissions to TouroCOM
· Maintains data for the applicant pool, using the centralized web-based data system and provides regular reports for Administration.
· Produces data management reports for the Dean of Student Affairs at least once a week throughout the admissions cycle.
· Works with mentorship programs, college prehealth advisors, and student interest groups to inform them about TouroCOM and provides activity reports to the Dean for Student Affairs after each meeting so that direction and action can be determined in order to meet the mission of the medical school for planning purposes.
· Conducts informational workshops and advisement for interested applicants.
· Works with candidates in submitting a supplemental application, outlining additional data needed for the evaluation process for the Master’s and DO programs
· Coordinates the work of the Admission’s Committee and subcommittee, including but not limited to providing student profiles for evaluation, assuring that all admissions information from the applicants has been received and is ready for review, and to verify that all pre-requisite course work, and infraction profiles meet the standards of TouroCOM
· Selects and maintains a schedule of all qualified applicants who have met the TouroCOM standards for admission and facilitates the scheduling of interviews between applicants and faculty.
· Work with the Preclinical Dean to mobilize, train and schedule faculty to conduct candidate interviews, as well as coordinate the use of rooms for the interviews.
· Presents candidates who were interviewed to the Admissions subcommittee and to the Dean for Student Affairs in order to select the best candidates for the college.
· Assists applicants with questions about TouroCOMs admissions policy
· Provides the Dean and Dean’s Council regular reports on admissions statistics, including, but not limited to the number of candidates who have applied and who have been accepted, along with their academic credentials and demographic data.
· Assure that the mission of the school to recruit underrepresented minorities to become qualified osteopathic physicians is maintained in the recruitment practice of the department
· Supervises all support staff working in the Admissions Office
· Works cooperatively with the Director of Admissions at the Middletown campus
· All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree
· Preferably 5 years of administrative experience in a college admissions office, or a college program director or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities above
· Strong analytical skills, strong people skills, patience in dealing with the public.
· Creative thinker with knowledge of best practices and standards relating to graduate admissions and recruitment, as well as ability to work collaboratively with faculty and the academic administration
· Ability to organize information, data and prioritize.
· Knowledge of academic standards governing the admissions process for the COM.
· Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures
· Knowledge and understanding of the integrated functions of the college level registrar, admissions, financial and general student affairs
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook
Internet Research
Comfortable with web-based admissions platforms.
Travel – Local and National travel

· Extensive time sitting and standing
· Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
