Job Description

The Graduate School of Education’s Instructional Designer is responsible for providing support and training to faculty in the Graduate School of Education.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist faculty and academic units with
o the design, creation and delivery of online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses
o integrating Blackboard with Chalk and Wire e-portfolio system
o developing digital projects
• Monitor and stay current with innovative and evidence-based practices for teaching and learning
• Develop and deliver training in effective teaching and instructional design in order to ensure the integration of technology into teaching and learning
• Review use of instructional technology in individual courses and provide feedback to faculty with respect to possible modifications for improvement
• Assist with the production and distribution of department reports
• Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that affect operations, development, and delivery of courses

Required Qualifications

• Masters Degree
• Demonstrated experience in higher education, K-12 schools, or other educational setting with significant experience in instructional technology, educational, technology, or online learning
• Substantial experience with at least one LMS (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
• Demonstrated knowledge of teaching and learning strategies to promote active learning, evidence-based practices, critical thinking, and the use of technology to enhance student success
• Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical methods for learners with diverse abilities and backgrounds, specifically Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
• Demonstrated ability in developing learning outcomes, instructional activities, and assessments
• At least 2 years of prior experience
• Experience with a variety of operating systems (OSX, Windows, mobile) and web-conferencing tools, such as Zoom and Skype
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Google Apps and Education tools, Adobe, educational video production tools (e.g. Kaltura), and cloud computing (e.g. Box)
