Job Description

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Touro College & University System (TCUS) benefits programs. Under the direction of the National Benefits Director, and working collaboratively with the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Administrator monitors benefit plans and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of all health & welfare and 403(b) plans. The Benefits Administrator ensures excellent customer service to employees via direct employee engagement and by proactive support of TCUS Contact Center and other outsourced providers.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the administration of all Touro College & University System (TCUS) Benefits Programs, which includes: medical; dental; vision; flexible spending plans; health savings account; legal; credit union; 403(b) Plans; 457 Plan; life insurance; short and long term disability; long term care; COBRA; Wellness.

• Serve as day to day contact for benefit vendors and third-party administrators.
• Investigate discrepancies to manage solutions.
• Coordinate and perform transfer of data to vendors for services, premiums and plan administration.
• Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes.
• Administer the processing of monthly billings for payment.
• Assist with benefit plan audits. Prepare, collect and organize data for assessments.
• Survey industry trends. Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results.
• Prepare materials for Orientations, distribute when appropriate and be available at the benefits portion of orientations and open enrollment meetings.
• Provide training and support to other benefits staff throughout our Schools.
• Assist with FMLA and Reasonable Accommodation as needed.
• Assist with Workers Compensation, Life, Short and Long Term Disability as needed.
• Assists the National Benefits Director, Benefits Manager, Chief Human Resources Officer, and other HR colleagues with special projects as requested.

Required Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of Human Resources Generalist and/or Benefits Administration experience
• Bachelor degree
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration, teamwork and communication (written and verbal)
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Overall business acumen, ethical decision making and relationship management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Post graduate education, or certifications in Human Resources with an emphasis on Benefits management
• Experience in higher education
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
• Experience in HR systems and technology (including Banner)

Physical Demands

• Extensive Use of Computers
• Extensive time sitting and standing
• Able to lift up to 5 lbs
• Travel as necessary, primarily for TCUS campuses and sites in NYC, Long Island, NY State
