Job Description

The role of the Auditor Staff is to perform various financial, operational and compliance audits including but not limited to detailed reviews, examination and assessment of operations. Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and operational effectiveness, accuracy in compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.

Job Duties

• Assists in the planning of an auditing by drafting or preparing audit announcement letter, annual auditing plan, setting up files, etc.

• Research internal control standards and compliance regulations when necessary

• Update the internal audit department website when necessary

• Keep abreast of industry and product specific developments and raise any risk and control related areas to internal audit management.

• Must understand internal auditing theories and techniques, including types of controls and testing procedures as well as related work paper standards.

• Responsible for the implementation, daily operations, and evaluation of the internship program

• Assist with special projects, contracted services and other agreed upon procedures requested of the Internal Audit Department

Required Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
• 1-2 years of experience in risk based auditing. Health care or university audit industry preferred
• Have or currently be seeking a CIA or CPA certification preferred

• Knowledge of COSO framework, risk assessment, control analysis and audit methodologies

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest degree of professional standards

• Ability to interact positively and communicate with all levels of staff and management

• Willingness to develop core competencies in audit and will be expected to develop overall knowledge of the various functions in the university ( i.e., Financial Aid, Bursar, Registrar, and Admissions)

• Strong detailed analytical, negotiating and reasoning skills

• Effective time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

• Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
