Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR managers across all areas of service delivery. This position carries out responsibilities across multiple functional areas, including employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment, benefits and HR operations. The HR Generalist is also responsible for managing HR communications to employees.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
• Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
• Develops and maintains reports for affirmative action program, and as needed will file EEO-1 report annually and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
• Will recruit for assigned positions as needed (exempt and nonexempt), and support pre-employment processes, new-employee orientation, and onboarding.
• Manages HR communication process and annual HR calendar.
• Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
• Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
• Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
• Maintains HR information system records and compiles reports from the HRIS system(s).
• Responsible for HR office management and is responsible for departmental administration such as invoice management, requisition processing, filing, and calendar management for others within the department.
• Will provide organizational and administrative support as Assistant to the CHRO, and participate in strategic projects.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor degree
• 1 to 2 years of Human Resources experience, including internships, with working knowledge of at least 3 areas of HR service delivery (administration, pre-employment hiring processes, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, recruitment, organizational development, employment law)
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving skills, and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal)
• Overall business acumen, ethical decision making and relationship management skills

• Experience in higher education
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
• Experience in HR systems and technology (including Banner)

Physical Demands

• Extensive Use of Computers
• Extensive time sitting and standing
• Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
