Job Description

To keep all campus buildings clean and presentable.

Job Duties

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: are those work assignments which are predominant, regular and recurring.
The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties to be assigned as necessary.

Recurring Tasks:
o Empty trash cans
o Clean bathrooms
o Vacuum carpets
o Sweep and buff floors
o Dust
o Rearranging as necessary; furniture and material in offices and other rooms in buildings

Periodic Tasks:
o High dusting
o Clean windows
o Restock paper towel and toilet paper dispensers

Projects:
o Strip and wax of floors
o Shampooing of carpets
o Refinish and seal floor

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE:
• Level 3 H.S. diploma or G.E.D.&/or job related exp.

REASONING COMPETENCY:
• Level 1 – Entry
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCY:
• Level 1 Entry
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Some experience in the operation of buffers, vacuums, carpet machine, and floor stripper.

OTHER TRAINING OR CERTIFICATION:
• Valid California driver license.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the operation of a buffer, a vacuum and understanding of cleanliness.

Preferred Qualifications
Physical Demands

None: Keying, lifting more than 100 lbs., working with explosives.

Up to 1/3 of the time: Sitting, lifting up to 100 lbs., working in high, precarious places, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electric shock, risk of radiation, vibration.

1/3 to 2/3 of the time: Tasting or smelling, lifting up to 50 lbs., wet, humid conditions (non-weather), toxic or caustic chemicals, needle sticks/blood borne pathogens

2/3 or more: standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or write, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, sight, lifting 10-35 lbs., working near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions.
