Job Description

Directly reporting to the Academic Dean, the Director of Operative and Preclinical Dentistry at Touro College of Dental Medicine will have the responsibility for coordinating all preclinical courses that utilize the simulation laboratory with the individual course directors. Specifically, the Director will be responsible for coordination of the course content including the incorporation of digital workflows, sequencing and scheduling of courses, simulation laboratory faculty assignments, and the availability of simulation laboratory equipment and supplies. The incumbent will ensure faculty calibration is completed and continually updated in all preclinical courses.
The incumbent will Co-Chair, with the Director of Clinics, the Clinic Instrument and Supply Committee so that materials and instrumentation will be coordinated, evidenced based in selection, and adhered to in both the simulation and clinical settings.

Job Duties

The Director of Preclinical Dentistry will also be the course director for the Operative Preclinical Dentistry course. This includes preparing and presenting the course concerning Operative procedures as well as the chemistry, clinical and handling properties, and science/evidence basis of the restorative materials utilized. The course director will also be responsible for sequencing the examinations, projects and practical examinations of the laboratory component of this course in which the students learn to perform intra-coronal cavity preparations and restorations. The course director, as all course directors, must follow the specifics of a Course Directors job description and responsibilities which for preclinical courses requires calibration.

Required Qualifications

Requirements include a D.D.S./DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school or equivalent, Certificate of training from an ADA-accredited AEGD or GPR program, or other advanced degrees and previous teaching experience. A masters in Restorative Dentistry and administrative experiences a plus. The applicant must be eligible for licensure in New York State.
