Job Description

The Director of Teaching, Learning and Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership and faculty support for the continuous improvement of teaching/learning and overall institutional effectiveness at Touro College of Pharmacy. The Director is responsible for assessment informed, evidence-based approaches in developing strategies, services, and support for faculty and staff for effective teaching practices and student success as well as the achievement of college strategic initiatives. The Director assists in preparing and submitting reports required by federal and state agencies, accreditation bodies, and other entities and accreditation activities.
The Director, in concert with the Dean/Director of Assessment, collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators in developing and implementing plans and methods, analysis and the sharing of results to effectively close the loop between assessment and improvement. The Director is also responsible for professional development opportunities, including training and workshops with faculty, staff, and administrators. In addition, the Director cooperates with the Dean/Director of Assessment in facilitating institutional survey administration, data collection, analysis, and reporting to college constituents.
The Director collaborates with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean/Director of Assessment in the design and execution of plans for maintaining the accredited status of the College and serves as a liaison to accreditation agencies; assists in preparing accreditation documentation files for review by accreditation agency staff; prepares and submits annual reports as required; and provides guidance to faculty and administration concerning accreditation matters.
The Director assists the Dean in coordinating and overseeing the strategic planning process for the College; advises on progress, problems, solutions and desirable changes in relation to strategic planning; schedules and conducts meetings to present, explain and discuss the strategic plan with individuals and groups.

Formulates and oversees flow processes for institutional effectiveness data, documentation and recommendations.
Exhibits leadership in various teaching, learning and institutional effectiveness projects and initiatives in a collaborative team environment with administrators, faculty, and staff.

Provides institutional data and findings from research and assessment to support institutional planning processes.
Promotes a culture that values and recognizes the importance of teaching excellence -and student learning. -
Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and committees on quality improvement processes that enhance the design and planning of curricula, courses, learning environments, and faculty development.
Facilitates new initiatives and encourage collaborations between curricular and co-curricular programs that support effective teaching and learning in the College through a variety of instructional modalities.
Leads efforts to determine areas of weakness; recommend corrective actions and set deadlines.
Assists in the design of authentic assessment measures of student learning with curricular and co-curricular programs
Facilitates and supports college collaborations in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Maintains expertise in the knowledge of trends in higher education, innovations, research, and best practices for using pedagogy and technology to improve learning outcomes.
Conducts special projects in support of institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment on behalf of the Dean.
Assists faculty with design of outcomes-based instructional materials. Serves on a variety of College committees.
Promotes faculty use of Universal Design for Learning principles toward developing learning environments that accommodate individual learning differences.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D./Ed.D. in an academic discipline (e.g. Higher Education, Sociology, Psychology).
Experience leading or supporting academic program review for a department or as an external evaluator.
Strong qualitative and quantitative research background; experience with statistical analysis techniques, database management and report writing and presentation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with deans, chairs, directors, faculty and staff.
Knowledge of the current realities in the higher education climate and ability to communicate these realities across a diverse audience.
Experience in leading faculty training and development.
Strong presentation skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and to facilitate dialogues with colleagues within the College.
