Job Description

Responsible for Pharmacy Academic Services that include student advisement in academic, career, and personal issues. Serve as the initial point of contact within the Office of Academic Affairs and respond to a multitude of questions and concerns from students. Assist in communicating with students concerning matters of registration, progression, probation, dismissal, scholarships offerings, and other student related items. Monitor student’s academic progress and provide reports of same. Design and disseminate all departmental forms, guides, handbooks, and other information and policy materials. Provide administrative support to the Dean of Academic Affairs including scheduling meetings, program functions and events, and other matters of the Office of Academic Affairs.

Job Duties

Advise students on academic, career, and personal issues; locate, solicit, and identify educational and career development resources appropriate for each student and assist with the analysis of each option, including possible outcomes and their applications; if needed, refer students to other Touro College-provided counseling or support services.
Monitor academic progress of students; determine eligibility for academic honors, academic dismissal, and graduation. Identify current and potential needs or problem areas and refer students to appropriate resources for assistance.
Maintain electronic and/or paper student files and records consisting of official and confidential matters; document all pertinent student information; update and manage student information in student information systems; provide electronic and paper reports and documentation of student records to Assistant/Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Communicate, interpret, and explain rules and regulations; utilize student ListServs in sharing College of Pharmacy information, guides, and forms, educational and career opportunities, as well as all other relevant information.
Interpret and explain both Touro College-wide and College of Pharmacy policies and procedures; draft, update, and maintain internal handbooks, rules and regulations, website information materials, and other official communication and materials.
Serve as the initial point of contact within the Office of Academic Affairs and respond to a multitude of questions and concerns from students; attend to telephone, in-person, and electronic inquiries from students.
Organize and/or present student development programs such as study skills, time management, stress management, and test taking skills.
Assist in communicating with students concerning matters of registration, progression, probation, dismissal, scholarships offerings, etc.
Make recommendations to the Associate/Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs on individual student matters.
Prepare reports on academic progress and retention of students.
Monitor and assure the quality of the advisement provided by faculty advisors; provide developmental support to faculty advisors toward the improvement of their advisement skills.
Gather pharmacy licensure information from several states, identifying pertinent licensure issues and notifying students of the same
Act as a liaison to Touro College student services offices
Serve as a resource for the Academic Standing Committee and other faculty, College of Pharmacy or Touro College committees as required
Identify options for students to satisfy degree requirements; evaluate and make recommendations on petitions and adjustments to the student’s program of study; liaise with the Office of the Registrar in approving and processing program of study or degree requirement modifications; identify and notify students eligible for honors and awards; assist students in securing both external and internal funding and scholarships.
Maintain enrollment statistics, GPA statistics; prepare reports and manage attrition and graduation data.
Assist students with paper and online registration, and provide guidance in course selection in keeping with the student’s interests, values, and abilities.
Compose letters and memorandum; prepare mass mailings; employ Microsoft Office Suite for all job-related tasks and responsibilities.
Draft, edit, and disseminate all departmental forms, guides, and other information and policy materials.
Serve on committees, as determined by the Assistant/Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Complete other assignments as may be directed by the Assistant or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Required Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training
Bachelor’s degree
At least three years’ experience working in student or academic affairs and/or higher education


The individual in this position must be detailed oriented, have a proven ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work under deadlines Strong inter-personal and communication (oral and written) skills Strong critical thinking skills Professionalism, efficiency, and an ability to work effectively with others. The individual in this position must possess excellent judgment and be able to maintain confidentiality in dealing with the personal information of others.
Preferred Qualifications

Computer Skills
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of integrated software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), are required
