Job Description

Supervising a team of local and remote operations’ staff and working collaboratively with Academic, Admissions, Information Technology, Registrar, and Student Accounts’ Departments, the Senior Director plays an integral role in the ongoing success of the Touro College and University System’s (TCUS) financial aid operations. The Senior Director of Financial Aid provides leadership throughout TCUS, provides oversight and manages financial aid processes; and monitors and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

Job Duties

• Oversees and manages the day-to-day front end financial aid operations throughout TCUS
• Provides leadership and mentoring to the campus financial aid directors; supervises a team of local and remote operations’ staff
• Monitors campus financial aid processing and packaging to ensure timely delivery of funding
• Travels to TCUS campus locations when needed
• Oversees the administration of TCUS’s financial aid programs to maximize student success
• Analyzes, interprets and implements federal, state and institutional regulations
• Adheres to financial aid policies and procedures to determine student eligibility and provide for equitable distribution of financial aid funds
• Ensures compliance with federal, state and institutional policies and regulations
• Monitors and analyzes student aid expenditures to effectively utilize funds
• Assists in the filing of applications for participation and funding for federal and state financial aid programs
• Provides leadership in creating a student-centered focus for delivering excellent customer service
• Supervises, trains and mentors financial aid team members
• Advises students and prospective students regarding financial aid
• Exercises professional judgment when evaluating unusual individual circumstances that affect the applicant’s ability to pay for college
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep informed of latest trends in financial aid administration and other overlapping areas of responsibility
• Conducts self in a professional manner and ensure that all interactions are courteous, efficient and supportive of TCUS’ values
• Perform other related duties as required and as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required
• A minimum of five years of relevant financial aid higher education student services experience
• Prior supervisory experience
• Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
• Ability to partner cross-functionally with other departments
• Ability to process within a complex student information computer system
• Working knowledge of Ellucian’s Banner financial aid module a plus
• Ability to research, correctly interpret and implement regulations, policies and procedures
