Job Description

Touro College seeks a Dean for its Graduate School of Education (GSE) who will provide strategic, transformational leadership and vision. The Dean will play a key role in designing and implementing a framework to ensure the economic and intellectual viability of the School. We are seeking a dean who: Inspires and supports the success of students, faculty and staff; Engages with the local and professional community to forge educational partnerships; Builds on the strengths of the current programs and on recent GSE restructuring by working collaboratively with faculty and program chairs to enhance the school’s regional prominence and attract external support for the school; Oversees academic quality and faculty evaluation; Leads the accreditation process, outreach, and scholarly activities; Identifies emerging opportunities and implements interdisciplinary and cross-unit collaborations; and effectively cultivates donors, funders and manages the budget.

Job Duties

The Dean of the Graduate School of Education works in collaboration with the College faculty, Touro administration, and the New York community—including educators, business leaders, legislators, and benefactors—to set the strategic priorities for the School. The position requires experience with the complex issues affecting education in our nation today, and a record of achievement in improving the quality of education for teachers and administrators. The Dean reports to the Vice President of the Division of Graduate Studies.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in education or in a field closely related to education; an earned rank of associate or full professor at an accredited college or university; and at least three years senior supervisory experience including personnel and budget management.
