Job Description

The HR Specialist will identify and attract top level professionals to fill job openings for Touro University Nevada faculty and staff positions. The Specialist must be able to successfully manage, prioritize and close searches against a timeline and have extensive knowledge of Talent Acquisition. In this role, the HR Specialist delivers HR support, advice, and services (in conjunction with the HR Centers of Expertise) to facilitate and advocate on all HR matters and activities, such as: staffing and recruiting; new-hire orientation and onboarding. The HR Specialist applies broad expertise and experience in various HR disciplines to enable, facilitate, and enhance Customer and team performance and productivity.

Job Duties

1. Develop and implement strategic initiatives for recruiting diverse talent.

2. Manage full cycle recruiting process to meet the various staffing goals across all levels within multiple business units.
2.1. Solely responsible for managing candidate intake on the applicant tracking system.
2.2. Partner with department heads and budget throughout the recruiting and hiring approval process.

3. Create and implement Employment Marketing Strategies to attract passive job seekers.
3.1. Partner with Advancement department to develop marketing initiatives to enhance employment branding.
3.2. Partner with external marketing firms.
3.3. Utilize social media and job boards to generate traffic to the TUN careers page.

4. Build and maintain network of potential candidates through pro-active market research and on-going relationship management.
4.1. Conduct phone interviews with potential candidates.
4.2. Assist department with creating the offer and closing the candidate.
4.3. Demonstrates the ability to anticipate hiring manager preferences through high offer to interview ratios.

5. Recommend ideas and strategies related to recruitment that will contribute to the long-range growth of the university.
5.1. Implementing any new processes and fine tuning standard process for recruiting that aligns with TUN’s mission to deliver the highest quality of faculty and staff for our students.
5.2. Work with hiring managers and/or committee to ensure job requirements and expectations are clearly understood and candidates are assessed against appropriate criteria.
5.3. Work closely with hiring managers and/or committee to maximize effectiveness of recruiting process.
5.4. Regular follow up with the respective hiring managers and/or committee and candidates to ensure timeliness of recruitment process.

6. Partner with Campus Leaders to forecast and develop plans for key staffing initiatives.
6.1. Strong commitment to continuous improvement; ability to proactively network and establish effective working relationships, continually seek new sourcing options, and develop creative approaches to delivering candidates to hiring committees and managers.

7. Build and utilize a variety of sourcing plans and tools; including internet research.

8. Actively participate in all staffing related activities and engage in cross functional projects, including; Employee Onboarding, New Hire Orientation and Employee Growth and Development Opportunities.

9. Manage and prioritize multiple searches, track and report key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity.

10. Ability to execute recruiting strategy, including employer promotion, diversity sourcing, and interview process management.

11. Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision.

12. Strong consulting skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

13. Other HR related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or related field required.

Experience:
Strong passion and commitment to the HR profession as a career and the HR Specialist role in support of management and staff, including the ability to effectively and consistently maintain high levels of confidentiality, sensitivity, respect, and support on matters of importance.
Exceptional attitude with 3+ years of overall HR experience and, specifically, in staffing and recruiting.
Working knowledge of and experience in core HR disciplines, including: staffing and recruiting, and compensation.
Working knowledge of and experience with various HR systems, processes, policies, practices, procedures, and tools.

Effective presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively (in a relaxed, open style and approach) in writing, verbally, and through the use of common business/office communication tools.
Experience supporting internal/external relationships and partnerships.
Effectively utilizes and facilitates collaboration among functional areas and other organizational teams and internal/external partnerships.
Proactively takes initiative to identify Customer needs, develops, and provides recommendations and facilitates implementation.
Excellent interpersonal skills, effectively using diplomacy and tact.
Strong Organizational skills.
Must be self-motivated, self- disciplined, and have a strong work ethic.
Detail oriented, including excellent follow through skills essential.
Capable of balancing multiple projects in stressful situations while meeting deadlines, achieving desired results, and maintaining positive relations.
Must have experience on mapping and sourcing resumes from all sources.
Extensive experience recruiting on various job boards.
Excellent computer proficiencies utilizing word processing, Excel, various recruiting databases and Power Point.

Physical Demands

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
This position requires the individual to work in a variety of settings including office and campus academic division/department offices
This is a typical office environment with long periods of sitting working at a PC and occasionally required to stand, walk, bend and reach.
Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

Only internal applicants will be considered September 11th through September 15th. Both internal and external applicants will be considered beginning September 18th until the position is filled.
