Job Description

The Research Assistant will be under the direct supervision of the Grant program director. This person will use strong quantitative skills and attention to detail to support management of a five-year grant in the Physician Assistant Studies Department. The Associate will be assigned to collect information for the grant quarterly and compiled reports. The Associate will also collect, analyze and organize data for the Grant PD faculty development. This will include preparing IRB submissions, poster and podium presentation drafts, and research articles. He/she will also participate in the training of any student researchers associated with the grant. The Associate will assist in Program reports and other daily operations of the MHC, Touro-Stallman Clinic and the PA program.

This person will also serve as the Curriculum Coordinator for the PA program. Under the direction of the Director of Academic education and Program Director, the Coordinator will ensure the curriculum for sections achieve and[or exceed] goals and expectations by coordinating and facilitating sections, manages, monitors and enforces deadlines, and coordinating speakers.

Job Duties

1. Manages all facility logistical arrangements for lectures, labs and small groups
2. Accurately prepares exam questions in database
3. Assists in development of policy and procedure mechanisms for all section related activities, sends deadline reminders, following up with faculty on needed information, etc.
4. Assist the Grant PD in managing the 5 year HRSA grant.
4.1. Assist the Grant PD in developing a faculty portfolio through research, presentations and data gathering.
4.2. Ensure HRSA quarterly reports are written and submitted.
4.3. Ensure annual and financial HRSA reports are submitted.
4.4. Collect data for research and manuscript preparation.
5. Maintain a schedule of work that efficiently manages assigned workloads.
6. Coordinate, oversee, and participate in experimental procedures run by faculty and/or students in the lab.
7. Input courses in EMS, Blackboard and Mediasite
8. Assist the Director of Academic Education in management of the Programs Didactic year.
9. Assist the PA program as needed.

Required Qualifications

College graduate with science background preferred, but can also have extensive background in grants and faculty portfolios in lieu of the college degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent speaking, typing and writing skills
• Microsoft Office suite proficiency, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Data collection and management experience
• Self-directed and able to work independently
• Experience with Blackboard, Mediasite a plus
• Team player and people person
• High level of attention to detail.

Physical Demands

• This position requires the individual to work in a variety of settings including office, classroom training environment and campus academic division/department offices
• This is a typical office environment with long periods of sitting working at a PC and occasionally required to stand, walk, bend and reach.
• Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

Only internal applicants will be considered from August 23rd through August 29th. Both internal and external applicants will be considered beginning August 30th until the position is filled.
