Job Description

The Dean of Education and Health Sciences is the chief academic officer for the college and a vital member of the university leadership team reporting to the campus Provost. The incumbent in this position will lead strategic planning for each of the academic areas within the college, work closely with Program Directors to develop academic goals and priorities and manage human, fiscal, and physical resources. Recruitment and retention of a diverse, talented faculty is an important responsibility as is working collaboratively with campus colleagues who value inter-professional education and practice. As an academic leader at an institution which strives for educational excellence, the Dean develops a learning community which is student-centered, enriched by focused research and scholarship and prepares graduates for rewarding lives in service to others both locally and around the globe. The Dean works closely with Student Affairs Admissions staff to coordinate student recruitment and insure effective enrollment management. The Dean works with university Advancement staff to support coordinated internal and external communications, program marketing, and fundraising activities.

Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP, DrPH) and qualified for appointment at rank of Professor
• An exceptional record of accomplishment as an educator, academic leader, professional expert and disciplinary scholar
• A career trajectory reflecting progressively increasing responsibilities in higher education administration

• A broad understanding of complex issues related to clinical practice, workforce education, assessment and accreditation within the college disciplines
• A commitment to student success and ability to make data informed decisions to support learning goals and outcomes
• Experience integrating emerging technologies into the teaching-learning process and supporting instructional pedagogy
• An ability to motivate and develop faculty to pursue excellence in teaching, scholarship and service
• Administrative experience leading strategic and operational planning, preparation of budgets, effective management of resources within a budget, personnel organization and management, and student and faculty recruiting
• Experience with public and private funding agencies, professional organizations, university governance, and political process
• Unquestioned integrity and a commitment to nurturing an academic environment that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and experiences and promotes their full development
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills to work with and engage multiple and diverse constituencies
