Job Description

Job Duties

1. Planning and organization (degree to which teaching is planned and efficiently organized, provides learning experiences which are based upon needs, interests and abilities of the student):
a. Establish objectives for instructional activities
b. Makes provisions for learning styles (concrete, abstract, auditory, experiential, kinesthetic, tactile, verbal and visual)
c. Establishes objectives with regard to curriculum, text, shelf and professional exams
d. Establishes a routine for daily planning and evaluation of students
e. Department chair will establishes a routine for daily planning and evaluation of faculty.
2. Assist in development of a detailed syllabus to include:
a . Overview of the course
b. Goals and means of measure of these goals for the course
c. Grading procedure to include grading of individual exams, posting of grades to blackboard, analysis of questions on each exam and provide a defense for each question of the exam
d. Ensure that exams are printed and prepared seven days prior to the delivery of the scheduled exam
e. Class and lab procedure to include attendance policy
f . Lecture dates and times with who is giving these lectures (for invited and guest lectures the course director or a designate are to be in attendance for the entire presentation)
g. Lab dates and times with who is giving these lectures.
3. Prepare lecture series that are recorded on iTunes that meet or exceed the following standards.
a. Provide an introduction
b. Establish lecture objectives
c. Detail reading assignments to compliment lecture
d . Detail the goals of each lecture
e. Provide a review of the lecture provided
f. Conclusion of facts from the lecture.
4. Fulfill committee assignments as assigned by the Dean.
5. Participate in interviews process as assigned by the Dean of Students.
6. Satisfactory completion of faculty development as measured by the Dean of Preclinical Sciences to include:
a. Academics (as measured by peer review)
b. Instruction (as measured by student evaluations)
c. Research activities (as measured by the Dean of Research).
7. Participate in student advising and provide guidance to the students of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine.
8. Other duties as directed by the Chair, Pre-Clinical/Clinical Deans and the Dean.
