Job Description

Lander College for Women in New York City is seeking an Assistant Professor of Judaic Studies to begin 2017- 2018.

Job Duties

Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in three areas—Jewish Law, Modern and Medieval Jewish Thought and Bible (eight courses per calendar year) with a primary emphasis on Jewish Law and Thought. The candidate is expected to develop new courses for the department within his/her area of expertise and to update courses that have been offered in the past. Candidate will be expected to participate in ongoing assessment, serve on committees and render service to the department.

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate or terminal degree in field strongly preferred. Candidates with semikhah or Master’s degree and relevant experience may apply.
• Promising record of scholarly or creative contributions to Jewish studies
• Experience teaching Judaic Studies at the college/university level
