Job Description

The Faculty member has the primary responsibility of coordinating the first year/didactic curriculum with the support of the clinical faculty members and the administrative assistants. Full time faculty members are active participants in all phases of the program curriculum and program development

Job Duties

Evaluating, editing, and updating the learning objectives and syllabi for all the courses

a. Advising faculty on the proper format and language of learning objectives
b. Soliciting comments on the contents of the learning objectives from staff/faculty/medical director/preceptors/alumni/other PA Program personnel
c. Editing final drafts of learning objectives
d. Maintaining files on objectives and syllabi, and general information about the curriculum
Evaluating faculty and curriculum
a. Participating in the peer evaluation effort
b. Participating in student evaluation of courses
c. Tabulating results of the student evaluations, sharing the results with Program Director and faculty, and discussing the results with the faculty to correct any areas of weakness
Evaluating outcome
a. Reviewing available standardized test results with staff and curriculum committee to analyze areas of strength and weakness in the curriculum
b. Sharing the analysis of available standardized exams with individual faculty members
c. Analyzing together with the clinical coordinator(s) student’s performance on each clinical rotation, identifying curricular areas of weakness, and discussing avenues of curriculum enhancement
d. Implementation of curricular improvements via the curriculum committee
e. Serving as on the curriculum/academic committee

Required Qualifications

Supervising, counseling and evaluating academic progress of students
a. Maintaining ongoing records of each student’s academic progress
b. Assisting with the advisement effort of the students
c. Serving as advisor for didactic, clinical, and masters coursework.
e. Reviewing ultimate accuracy of official transcripts
Acting as a course coordinator for assigned courses
a. Review and editing of the general overview of the course, course description, methods of evaluation
b. Coordinating exams, calculating final grades
Teaching courses in area of expertise
a. At minimum full time faculty members participate as Physical Diagnosis Lab Instructor, Clinical Skills/Procedures Instructor, proctoring exams and lecturing in area of expertise.
b. Participation in the development of the Behavioral Health Track
Responsibilities for general aspects of the PA Program and the School of Health Sciences
a. Participating in the admissions process including application review, interview and serving on the admissions committee
b. Serving as a member of the PA Academic Progress Committee
c. Participating in the preparation of annual reports, bulletin and catalogue
e. Serving on a school-wide committee
f. Participating in the recruitment effort
g. Additional duties may include serving the department and institution through committee leadership or participation, and identifying potential scholarly projects for student, individual or departmental collaborative research.
Committee Service:
a. Will participate on appropriate committees and development projects as requested by the Program Director.
b. Participates in reaccreditation and program evaluation activities as deemed appropriate by the Program Director.
