Job Description

The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine’s campus in Middletown, N.Y. has an opening for a full-time Physician Faculty in the Department of Primary Care.

Candidates must be committed to teaching, scholarship and service, in line with TouroCOM’s mission statement, in addition to possessing strong communication skills.

Responsibilities include direct and video based didactic and clinical skills teaching, administration, training and assessment of students, adjunct faculty and standardized patients.

Job Duties

1. Participate in course planning, execution, delivery and student assessment in the Clinical Systems (CS), Physical Diagnosis (PD), Early Clinical Experience (ECE) and Medical Simulation (MS) courses.
2. Collaborate closely with TouroCOM Harlem campus Primary Care Faculty.
3. Prepare and deliver teaching sessions (live and video) that meets or exceeds national and Touro standards.
4. Participate in determination and judicious use of budget and other resources.
5. Participate in the organization and execution of the training, scheduling and assessment of the adjunct faculty, staff and standardized patient (SP) actors.
6. Participate in the recruitment, hiring and training of the adjunct faculty, staff and standardized patient actors.
7. Support all activities in the Department of Primary Car, including in the
Clinical Systems, Physical Diagnosis, Early Clinical Experience and Medical Simulation courses.
8. Participate in scholarly activity.
9. Fulfill committee assignments as assigned by the Campus Dean. 10. Participate in AdmissionsInterviews as assigned.
11. Satisfactory completion of Faculty Development for self and adjunct Faculty
as measured by the Dean of Preclinical Sciences to include TouroCOM And Touro College Faculty Development and Evaluation Policy.
12. Participate in student advising and provide guidance to the students of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, particularly “at risk” students.
13. Establish and maintain Adjunct Faculty, SP and student schedules as needed.
14. Participate in service to the school and to the community.
15. Participate in other related activities as assigned.
16. Work with Vice-Chair to delegate, train and oversee staff in their responsibilities to the Department.
17. Work with the legal/compliance department as needed to help ensure that
proper policies and procedures are followed.
18. Work with the Department of OMM to integrate departments and curriculum.
19. Develop, maintain and enhance knowledge on the use and operation of
different simulator technologies.
20. Special projects as directed.
21. Faculty and Employee responsibilities as specified in the respective Touro handbooks.

Required Qualifications

1. DO or MD Degree
2. Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine

Preferred Qualifications

PREFFERRED
I. Board Certification and experience in Primary Care or related specialty (example: family medicine, internal medicine or emergency medicine)
2. Experience teaching in the undergraduate medical education setting
3. Experience in medical simulation
4. Experience in administration
5. Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State

Physical Demands
