Job Description

The Clinical Coordinator has overall responsibility for the supervision of the clinical PA educational experience. The Clinical Coordinator recruits clinical sites and evaluates the clinical experience offered to the students at each site. Students are guided to assure the learning experience.

Job Duties

Evaluating, editing and updating the learning objectives for all clinical clerkships
a. Coordinating the timely distribution of learning objectives
b. Soliciting comments on the content of learning objectives from staff/faculty/site evaluators/clinical instructors/ other PA program personnel
c. Regular updating of required/recommended reading lists
d. Editing final drafts of learning objectives
Evaluating, editing and updating the End of Rotation and AKCT examinations
a. Compiling/collecting appropriate questions consistent with outlined learning objectives
b. Performing test question analysis
Scheduling of clinical clerkships
a. Utilizing EXXAT to schedule required and elective five-week clinical clerkships
Liaison between Health Care Facility and Touro College
a. Recruitment of adequate clinical training sites
b. Orientation of clinical instructors/preceptors to school policies
c. Assurance of student/school adherence to Health Care Facility stipulations (contractual or informal agreement)
d. Periodic evaluation of the clinical experience offered (including evaluation of student feedback) with constructive feedback to Health Care Facility
Teaching courses in area of expertise

Supervising, counseling and evaluating clinical/academic performance of Second year students
a. Maintaining ongoing records of each student’s site evaluations,
examinations, preceptor evaluations and OSCE’s
b. Identifying academic/behavioral problems and initiating appropriate interventions
c. Coordinating the counseling effort of the second year students
1. Assigning available faculty as advisors
2. Review and enhancement of guidelines for advisement
3. Apprising advisors of any problems a student may be experiencing
d. Assuring site evaluations for each student during each clerkship
Supervisory responsibilities
a. Assignment and supervision of the workload for the Co- Clinical Coordinators
b. Assignment and supervision of the workload for the Clinical Administrative Assistant
Administrative Responsibilities
a. Assure proper student registration for each semester of the clinical year
b. Reporting/verification of grades to registrar
c. Formulation/computation of grades for semester Dean’s List

Required Qualifications

Responsibilities for general aspects of the PA Program and the School of Health
Sciences
a. Participating in the admissions process including application review, interview and serving on the Admissions Committee
b. Serving on the PA Academic Progress Committee
c. Participating in open houses both at the PA program and at other Institutions
d. Participating in the self study process
e. Serving on school-wide committees

Education, Preparation, and Training
a. NCCPA Board Certified
b. Valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant
c. A Master’s degree is required
d. A Bachelor of Science from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
