Job Description

A faculty member in PBS has responsibilities in three areas. These areas are teaching, research and service. Work requires flexibility, adaptability and creativity. PBS faculty will teach pharmacy students in the classroom setting and / or in the laboratory. Faculty members will have excellent communication skills, organizational skills and a commitment to the mission and development of the College.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Faculty will be responsible for delivery of a portion of the curriculum and participation in its development.
• Faculty will teach Touro College of Pharmacy students on campus as part of that curriculum.
• Faculty will provide service on College and University committees, attendance and participation in departmental meetings and will perform other faculty duties as appropriate.
• Faculty will contribute to new knowledge (research) through research activities, presentations, publications, obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials and other scholarly work.
• Faculty will provide reports and other documents as requested by department chairs, directors and deans.

Required Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training
PharmD; PhD or equivalent
A PBS faculty member should have completed a post-doctoral fellowship or equivalent. Experience in teaching at the professional student level is highly recommended.

Skills
A PBS faculty member should have the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the following:

Teach and evaluate the academic progress of pharmacy students in didactic and laboratory settings. Perform other teaching, counseling, committee meeting attendance, applicant interviews and other duties as required of PBS faculty. Perform all responsibilities within the values and professional framework of the College. Maintain accurate and complete student records. Maintain accurate and complete research records. Develop and maintain collegial working relations. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis. Guarantee confidentiality of all student information. Adhere to policies and procedures of Touro College of Pharmacy and the Touro College and University System.
Preferred Qualifications

Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Travel
As needed

Physical Demands

Extensive Use of Computers
Extensive time sitting and standing
Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
