Job Description

The Simulation Technician will work under the direction of the Clinical Skills Lab Director to facilitate and support high-fidelity human patient simulation and standardized patient simulation for all levels of Touro University students. This position will interact with faculty, students and staff from all TU colleges in facilitating Interprofessional Education (IPE) events, Clinical Skills/Simulation events and functions as a team member of the Clinical Skills Lab. Simulation Tech will support faculty, students and CSL staff in all standardized patient and simulator driven events.

Job Duties

• Operate simulators and simulator software on the level of a user
• Learn and operate Meti-Learning Space software on the level of a user
• Coordinate/collaborate in development, logistics and scheduling of all simulation for inter-professional education
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on IPE event design and implementation
• Manage and maintain simulators and supplies (assembly, disassembly and cleaning, ordering supplies)
• Coordinate simulator maintenance with vendor
• Assist and support set up and administration of simulator and standardized patient driven events
• Attend training and conferences to keep current in simulation methodologies
• Collect and maintain Clinical Skills Lab data

Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• Must be software literate
• Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office, WORD and Excel
• Experience in spreadsheet, data collection and management
• Motivated team player with the desire to share creative solutions and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in simulation, IT, audio/visual or standardized patient education preferable
• Background in healthcare would be useful

Physical Demands

No: climbing, balancing, lifting of 50 pounds or more, wet or humid conditions, working in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat or cold (non-weather), working with explosives, risk of radiation, vibration or needle sticks/blood-borne pathogens.

Up to 1/3 of the time: walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, or lifting up to 35 pounds.

Low: working near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electric shock.

1/3 to 2/3 of the time: standing, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or write, keying, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
