Job Description

The College of Education and Health Science’s outreach specialist and student recruiter is responsible for supporting the education, nursing, public health, and physician assistant programs. The position requires a knowledge of recruitment and market strategies, exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, and a community outreach and service background. In addition, a knowledge or background in higher education is preferred. Please see full job description below.

Job Duties

• Contact and meet prospective CEHS program students.
• Participate in visitations and other special events to explain programs to potential students.
• Host Information sessions at school sites.
• Provide information regarding admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective students via phone, mail and personal visits; follow up with mail or phone call, as appropriate.
• Assist new students with the enrollment process and career options.
• Travel to school districts and health organizations to identify and connect with potential students.
• Actively recruit and market programs in the College of Education and Health Sciences (CEHS) through a variety of methods, which include:

-Manage Facebook accounts
-Develop a Quarterly CEHS News Letter
-Write press releases
-Monitor Results of Marketing Activities
-Review Enrollment Trends and History provided by programs and the Office of Admissions

• Assist with marketing plans
• Produce follow-up reports regarding marketing activities
• Maintain awareness of new departments in the field through conferences and professional development classes.
• Visit HR departments in school Districts and connect with local teachers.
• Maintain and update database of student contacts.
• Meet with Directors ad Program Chairs to get input and develop recruitment plans.
• Assist in planning and organizing the college-wide Open Houses.
• Develop and implement recruitment plan for academic programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in education or marketing or related field and two years of related work experience, preferably in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques.
• Knowledge of admissions requirements and curriculum programs at the University.
• Knowledge of human relations and personnel practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
• Ability to communicate and work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
