Job Description

The Fieldwork I Clinical Coordinator is responsible for ascertaining that students receive appropriate training and for obtaining and interfacing with all clinical facilities

Job Duties

The Fieldwork / Clinical Coordinator reports all aspects of the responsibilities below to the Director of Nursing. The responsibilities of the Fieldwork / Clinical Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:

• Ensuring that students receive training as· appropriate for fieldwork
• Establishing new, and/or reviewing, revising, updating current clinical agreements between the department, program, School and/or College and the clinical facility . . .
• Establishing and implement mechanisms for ongoing assessment of fieldwork sites
• Developing fieldwork experience opportunities
• Providing feedback of clinical information and training needed by students to succeed in various externship situations (educational, medical)

• Ascertaining and insuring all clinical placements, documents, and dissemination of same are done so within the standards of accrediting bodies, legal bodies, the ethical and legal confines of the department, School, and College included but not limited to:
• Preparing of clinical packets for dissemination assuring, through legal counsel and advisement by administration, that all written contracts or letters of agreement between the educational institution and clinical facility meet legal standards for the protection of the student, clinical site, and education institution
• Reviewing returned clinical packets signed and dated agreement, and obtaining signatures from all Touro College designated representatives for initiation of agreement
• Copying and filing of contract in program/department files
• Returning copy of signed contract to clinical site
• Reviewing and updating clinical agreements
• Sending necessary information and forms for each student to the clinical supervisor unless responsibility is assigned to the student
• Maintaining and disseminating information in accordance to clinical agreements and established by law
• Maintaining lists and records of student practicum experiences, including clinical sites information, clinical agreements, all forms related to fieldwork reservations, student placement and
assignments, class lists, registration and accreditation documents, student contact information while students are on clinical
• Filing and updating of documentation from clinical sites including but not limited to copy of signed and dated agreement between clinical site and designated representative of Touro College, site data forms, reports of faculty or Clinical Coordinators site visit, any documentation indicating goals and objectives, assignments, policies and procedures of clinical site

• Preparing student rosters, placement lists, assignments sheets, and other information needed for clinical (task may be assigned to Administrative Assistant, but process must be supervised by-Fieldwork Clinical Coordinator).
• Maintaining, reviewing and .having students update as necessary, all School and clinical requires student medical/mal-practice and liability insurance information (task may be assigned to Administrative Assistant but the process
must be supervised by Fieldwork Coordinator
• Maintaining information about medical and any other requirements of clinical sites.

• Participating in the development of documents and reports related to
Clinical when requested and/or assigned
• Notifying Program Director of clinical assignments
• Notifying Program Director, as well as student’s faculty advisor and course coordinator, if student is experiencing problems during clinical assignment

• Mediating between students and placement should problems arise

• Reassigning students who do not complete original clinical assignments in accordance with educational institution’s policies

• Maintaining a collaborative relationship with clinical sites
• Making regular and periodic contacts with each site where students are placed;
• Assisting site with problem solving and student supervision and student advisement should it become necessary or if requested by site and/or student
• Facilitating the involvement of clinical supervisors and clinical educators in the education of students both at the clinical site

• Participate in professional development activities related to job assignment as Fieldwork I Clinical Coordinator

Required Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training
• Minimum of Master’s degree in Nursing
• New York State licensure in Nursing
• Documented expertise in their area of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

Computer Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet research and Outlook

• Travel as required for site visits, meetings, and other job responsibilities
