Job Description

To provide strategic vision and leadership that supports the development and delivery of the RN-BS program. The Assistant Director has administrative responsibility for the RN-BS program in Valhalla, and acts as a liaison to preceptor sites and preceptors, as well as a resource to faculty and students enrolled in the Program. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for didactic teaching and will report directly to the Director of the Nursing Program.

Job Duties

. Assists in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Department of Nursing.
2. Offers leadership to enhance the department’s reputation as a provider of a professional nursing program.
3. Considers curriculum recommendations of the Department of Nursing Faculty Committee to improve and strengthen the RN-BS program.
4. Articulates, models, and supports a positive work culture that embraces the mission, goals, and values of Touro College and the Department of Nursing.
5. Serves as the principal liaison for the student placement in clinical sites.
6. Maintains a credit load for teaching nursing courses and administratively directs the RN-BS program.
7. Maintains the documentation of student records to ensure that all required BS courses are met.
8. Leads faculty development seminars and serves as a resource person for the faculty.
9. Ensures that appropriate accreditations for the RN-BS program are maintained while encouraging innovative approaches to enhancing the training and development of baccalaureate prepared nurses.
10. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Nursing preferred, Master’ in Nursing Required
• Advanced preparation in administration of nursing education, curriculum planning, and principles and methods of teaching
• Current, unencumbered NYS RN license required.
Skills
• Broad professional experience in clinical nursing at various levels, including administrative positions.
• Teaching experience which includes classroom and clinical responsibilities, as well as participation in curriculum development.
• Evidence of leadership in the professional community.
• Appropriate knowledge of management theory and its application to the administration of an educational program.

Preferred Qualifications

Computer Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Travel
• Frequent travel to local area and clinical sites; including evenings and Sundays
• Work takes place in the Valhalla Campus, with possible travel to the Brooklyn Nursing campus at times
