Job Description

To assist the Chairperson in the everyday functioning of the RN-BS Program at the Valhalla, NY campus. Works within the Department of Nursing. Duties include clerical and administrative tasks, dealings with the public and college personnel, and work delegated by Chairperson.

Job Duties

Answering phones, emails and public inquiries about RN-BS program at Valhalla
• Works with senior administrative staff on applicants and admissions
• Recording of minutes at faculty and staff meetings
• Assists senior staff and faculty with preparation of reports, exams, and documents pertaining to the program
• Assists senior administrative staff with preparation of orientation, meetings, information sessions, and events at the Valhalla Campus
• Maintains stock of office supplies
• Responsibilities delegated by the Director and Assistant Director as needed

Required Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training
• High School diploma; college preferred
• Experience in business procedures, applications, and bookkeeping

• Typing/word processing of about 45 wpm
• Basic office methods, practices, and procedures, including filing systems, correspondence, standard English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Computer skills
• Ability to carry out oral and written directions
• Able to make independent decisions
• Communicate effectively
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
• Be flexible and receptive to change
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
• Initiative
• Reliability

Preferred Qualifications

Computer Skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook

• Occasional travel to Brooklyn Nursing Campus for training sessions
• Occasional evenings for Information Sessions

Physical Demands

• Sit for extended period of time
• Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
• See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without visual aids
• Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
• Stand, walk, bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, move, lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds to waist height.
