Job Description

The Coordinator of Experiential Programs provides vision and guidance in strategic direction for the College of Pharmacy’s experiential programs as well as fulfilling general clinical practice faculty responsibilities (clinical practice, teaching, service and research). The position requires flexibility, adaptability and creativity. The Coordinator will provide vision, strategic direction and managerial support of the experiential programs. This person must demonstrate excellent communication skills, superior organizational and customer service skills, responsive to directives and a commitment to the mission and development of the College.

Job Duties

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide leadership and coordination of the daily operations of the experiential programs
• Provide and assist in strategic planning for new sites and preceptors for the experiential programs
• Represent the University and The College of Pharmacy to external Stakeholders
• Participate and coordinate preceptor development and experiential education programs
• Develop and execute the experiential curriculum based on ACPE standards for individual rotations
• Provide on-going quality evaluations of individual rotations
• Develop and implement outcomes-driven assessment of experiential courses
• Teach Touro University students on and off campus as part of that curriculum
• Participate on University committees, departmental meetings and perform other duties as appropriate
• Contribute to new knowledge (research) through research activities, presentations, publications, obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials and other scholarly work.

Required Qualifications

Education:
PharmD, California pharmacist licensure

Experience and Training:
The Coordinator of Experiential Programs should have completed at least one year of pharmacy residency or equivalent with practice experience and at least one year in a management position. Experience in teaching at the professional student level is highly recommended. Bilinguality in Spanish/English is valued.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Coordinator should have the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the following:

Teach and evaluate the academic progress of pharmacy students in didactic and practice settings. Perform other teaching, counseling, committee meeting attendance and other duties as required of pharmacy faculty. Perform all responsibilities within the values and professional framework of the College. Maintain appropriate licensing and certifications. Maintain accurate and complete student, preceptor and site information. Develop and maintain collegial working relations on campus and at practice sites. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis. Adhere to policies and procedures of Touro University and Touro College.
