Job Description

A faculty member in Social, Behavioral and Administrative Sciences has responsibilities in three areas: teaching, research and service. A faculty member is expected to provide a high quality of instruction for students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program and, where appropriate, to graduate students and pharmacy fellows. Scholarship, including contributions to the peer-reviewed literature, is expected. Service to the University, the College, the professional community and, where appropriate, the pharmacy community are expected. Work requires flexibility, adaptability and creativity. The faculty member needs to support the mission and vision of the College of Pharmacy and to be motivated to the development of students as pharmacists.

Job Duties

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Function as course coordinator for a semester course in SBA
• Communicate openly with the Chair
• Actively participate in service activities
• Actively engage in scholarly activity
• Teach a large part of the course as course coordinator
• Attend student orientation
• Attend White Coat Ceremony
• Attend graduation

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None 

Required Qualifications

Education/licensure:
PhD or PharmD in a field of social, administrative and behavioral sciences, management, public health or equivalent.

Experience and Training:
The faculty member should have completed at least one year of postdoctoral training. Experience in teaching at the professional student level is recommended.

Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
• Evidence of a successful, established research program
• Expertise in health policy, healthcare delivery systems, healthcare financing and reimbursement schemes, public and private insurers, and managed care systems

Teach and evaluate the academic progress of pharmacy students on campus and, where appropriate, in practice sites. Perform other teaching, counseling and University services as required of TU California faculty. Maintain currency in the area of training where teaching and research occur. Maintain accurate and complete student records and evaluate students in a timely fashion. Develop and maintain good working rapport with other faculty members, student and staff. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis. Guarantee confidentiality of all student information. Participate in meetings as assigned. Participate in student and faculty development activities. Adhere to policies and procedures of Touro University California. Perform all responsibilities within the values and professional framework of the mission and vision of the College of Pharmacy.

The qualified candidate shall demonstrate the ability to teach in the areas of biostatistics; non-parametric statistics; survival analysis; evaluation of cohort and case-control studies; cost analysis, cost minimization, and cost/benefit analysis; economic modeling and budget impact analysis; drug literature evaluation skills; pharmacoeconomics; and pharmacoepidemiology.
